1971 Porsche 911T
UK Supplied, RHD , Sportomatic, One of only 192 UK supplied cars.
This is a vary rare example of an early 911T with the Sportomatic (semi automatic) gearbox. Sportomatics were produced in limited numbers and information obtained from Porsche Cars GB records suggests that only 192 Sportomatic 911’s were imported into the UK between 1968 and 1973. Over the years many of these cars have been converted to manual which makes the Sportomatic cars something of a rarity. This particular example was first registered in the UK in April 1971 and is showing just 84,500 miles. The car is on the road and currently has MOT until October. The car was subject to restoration work (body & paint) in 2010, when it was re-finished in the period Orange colour. In 2011 the Sportomatic gearbox was completely overhauled and a new clutch was fitted. The car has seen some welded underneath in the past which is to be expected of a car of this age, the underside of the car has now been protected with wax oil. The overall condition of the car is good however under closer inspection there is certainly scope for improvement in the final finish & detail. I would describe the car as an ideal candidate for further restoration however it can be enjoyed as it is and improved over time. The original interior is well presented, all gauges are working as they should. The car starts easily and the engine runs well although it does have a slight oil leak. The original Fuchs alloys are in good shape, including the spare.
With the prices of early right hand drive 911’s still on the increase and the fact that this rare model still has the sportomatic gearbox, I believe this car represents great value as an investment.
