1989 Lotus Esprit X180
41K Miles, Superb condition, Rare X180
Launched at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, the Guigiaro designed Esprit impressed from the start and was immediately revered for its Lotus handling characteristics. In 1987, the Esprit was restyled by British designer Peter Stevens, who would later go on to design the McLaren F1. Although never given an official series designation, this Esprit became known as the X180 which was the project name.
This particular example is presented in stunning Calypso Red paintwork with Cream leather interior, of which both still present in fantastic condition today. Supplied in January 1989 by the Norfolk Motor Company Ltd in Norwich, with the original sales documentation still in the history file. The car starts with ease and drives just as it should, sounding superb thanks to the stainless exhaust system. Everything works as expected, including the pop up lights. The original service book has unfortunately been lost, however there is a folder of invoices for maintenance and service work, mostly carried out by Paul Matty Sportscars Ltd. This includes a service only 600 miles ago, timing belt, idler pulley and a new clutch. There is also an invoice for complete cylinder head overhaul and rebuild. Overall a vert tidy example of one of the more desirable Lotus Esprit, in lovely condition throughout.
