Alfa Romeo GTAm

1974 Alfa Romeo GTAm Recreation

53K km, Full GTAm conversion, Rebuilt engine and gearbox

A stunning example of a 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 which has been converted to GTAm spec, as a tribute to the race cars of the late 60s and early 70s. Imported from Italy in the mid 80s, where the car was being used for sprints and hill climbs, it remained with the same owner for many years until 2018 when it was acquired by the last owner who set about the GTAm build. First the car was sent to be stripped back to a shell and professionally painted in the iconic Rosso Corsa by Sheffield based Roberts Motor Bodies. Meanwhile the 2.0L Nord engine and gearbox were shipped to Alfa engine specialist, Marco Hesshaus at Hesshaus Race Engineering in Hannover for a full strip-down and rebuild. This work included high lift cams, forged pistons and the addition of rebuilt and tuned twin weber 45 carbs. The result of this work left the engine pushing 167bhp at the wheels, which is great fun in this stripped out Alfa. The engine and body were then reunited at Alfa specialists Veloce Sport in Lincolnshire, where the car was reassembled with many new parts. The result is a beautiful car, offering a raw and visceral driving experience.
