1967 Jaguar MK2 2.4
97K Miles, Manual with Overdrive, Stunning restored condition!
We are pleased to present this beautifully restored and improved, matching numbers Mk2 Jaguar. Presented in its classic original colour combination of Dark Blue with light blue leather interior. The last owner has cherished this car and been restoring and improving it over the past 28 years! A low owner car, with only 3 past owners on the log book prior to him. Taken on as a restoration project in 1993, the car is now looking absolutely fantastic, with thousands spent over the years on a complete bare metal restoration, mechanical rebuild and long list of improvements. These included a complete strip down of the shell to bare metal with many panels repaired or replaced including new inner and outer sills, chassis leg repairs and floor sections replaced, professionally repainted to a high standard in its original colour, engine professionally rebuilt by CFS Motors, Jaguar engine specialists in Coventry, the 2.4 engine upgraded to later Jaguar 240 specification but with the original engine block retained, straight port (E type) cylinder head, twin SU carburettors in place of the original Solex, lightened flywheel, spin off oil filter, K&N air filter, new manifolds and twin pipe stainless steel exhaust system. The gearbox and overdrive were rebuilt by Hardy Engineering in Leatherhead also in 2008. The front and rear suspension has been rebuilt with new components, new chrome wire wheels with matching Dunlop tyres, majority of the external trim re-chromed or replaced including bumpers, window frames, door handles and body trim, all wood trim refurbished, new headlining and new wool carpets fitted, new seatbelts as well as upgraded front seats from a Jaguar XJ40 re upholstered in matching leather and installed with full electric adjustment controls still working, all electrics replaced with complete new wiring loom throughout with alternator replacing the original dynamo. The braking system was completely refurbished with upgraded 4 pot callipers on the front, radiator re-cored and Kenlow fan fitted, electric power steering rack and pinion conversion fitted at great expense, electronic fuel pump, upgraded heater, Motolita steering wheel, rear seat belts, laminated front windscreen and a Retrosound period looking stereo with remote fitted. This work was finally completed and the car put back on the road in 2014. Since then the car has been enjoyed but has only covered just under 2,000 dry miles and so is still in fabulous condition as to be expected, with only a couple of small imperfections in the paintwork to note. The car retains its original number plate and is accompanied by the heritage certificate confirming the matching numbers, colour and even the original owner and dealer it was sold from in Peterborough July 1967. Along with this is a large folder of invoices totalling over £23,000 for parts alone! supplied by SNG Barratt, MartinRobey and other reputable suppliers. Photos of the restoration in different stages are also present along with past MOT’s, 2 sets of keys, a car cover and a battery maintainer is also installed. Overall this is a particularly handsome and very usable Mk2, finished to a high standard in the best colours. All the hard work has already been done and you could never replicate it within this budget. This splendid example can now be enjoyed as its value continues to increase, be it for European tours, entering classic car shows or simple weekend pleasure drives. The car has current MOT with no advisories until the end of September 2021 and will be supplied with a fresh service so its ready to use immediately.
