A beautifully finished and highly usable example of the classic air cooled 911 Targa, presented in a rare and striking period colour combination. This 1978 Porsche 911 SC Targa has covered 125,000 miles and benefits from an extensive body restoration, with close to £50,000 recently invested.

Between 2020 and 2023 the car underwent a comprehensive restoration by Jentree Classic Cars in East Sussex. The work included a full strip down to a bare shell, with all corrosion professionally addressed in the usual problem areas, including the kidney bowls. The car was then repainted in its original Light Green Metallic and carefully reassembled. The quality of the paintwork and panel fit is excellent throughout.

During the restoration, the suspension was fully refurbished, and the braking system renewed with refurbished calipers, new discs and pads. While the engine was removed, a new clutch was fitted along with new oil lines, new brake hoses and a major service. The total cost of this work was just under £50,000. The 915 gearbox was rebuilt in 2018 and continues to perform exactly as it should.

The interior was retrimmed to a high standard in Tartan and Cork Leatherette, complemented by new carpets and a refurbished Targa roof. The period correct materials for this were supplied by Southbound Trimmers at a cost of £4,000, with invoices on file. The result is a distinctive and very 70’s cabin that suits the car perfectly.

The 3.0 litre flat six engine starts instantly, pulls well and runs clean with no oil leaks. The original 16 inch Fuchs wheels have been refurbished and fitted with premium Pirelli tyres, completing the car nicely.

Overall, this is a solid, well restored and thoughtfully detailed 911 SC Targa, finished to a high standard and ready to be enjoyed. Supplied with two keys, original service book, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a large history file including past service records and MOTs.
