78K Miles, Beautifully restored
A particularly handsome example of a LHD 1961 Karmann Ghia, presented in pearl white over dark red interior. Benefitting from complete bare metal restoration in 2011 which consisted of a complete strip down, shell acid dipped, new floors, rust repairs in the usual places but being a Californian car it wasn’t too bad. The headlamp bowls, sills, heater channels, quarter panels, door skins were all repaired/replaced where necessary. CSP front disk conversion, converted to dual circuit, master cylinder, brake lines, wheel bearings, rear brakes rebuilt, accelerator/clutch cables replaced. Shifter bushings replaces, body to floorpan seal replaced. 1500sp engine rebuilt (not original to car engine due to a cracked case on the original). Refurbish gearbox fitted by Californian Classics 3 years ago, new exhaust and heat exchangers, seatbelt mounting plates welded to the chassis for lap belts. Complete new wiring loom, new battery. New carpets, vinyl seat covers, door cards and all brightwork re plated. The wheels have been refurbished and are wrapped in US royal white wall tyres with the original hubcaps still present. The car starts and drives superbly having just had a major service and tune up, during which a new carburettor was fitted, Oil changed, tappets and timing done, fuel filter, spark plugs, leads, points and a new speedo cable fitted. Overall a wonderful example of these collectable cars, now ready for a new owner.
